New Leadership Delivering Results for Our Community - I AM THE 5TH DISTRICT!
Alexander Hackett was born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware. He spent the majority of his life in the 5th district of the city. Alexander is a graduate of Delcastle Technical Highschool and attained his Bachelor's degree from Delaware State University. During his tenure at Delaware State University, Alexander majored in Business Administration, with a concentration in Human Resources. Alexander is currently an educator at the prestigious, Kuumba Academy Charter School where he teaches finance classes and is a Behavioral Specialist. In addition, he serves as an athletic director, a sports coach, and a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
The 5th district is no stranger to Alexander, as he spent most of his life growing, learning, and loving his community. Like most loving parents, Alexander's mother refused to lose him to the streets and raised him with values and integrity to do more with his life, and for his community. With the help of his aunt, Ms. Rochelle, (camp director at William Hicks Anderson Center), gave him the experience that he needed to start his journey.
The 5th district became home, and Alexander would spend the next 15-20 years representing his community. Alexander played many Wilmington League Sports, as well as volunteered his services to other community centers that may have need assistance with mentoring the youth. He is a great example and role model to many in his community and beyond. His passion to save city kids from the cruel streets is why he is running for Wilmington City Council.
Alexander considers the residents of the 5th district his "family". They have impacted his life tremendously, so he vowed to give back to the community he loves. Alexander says "I am running for city councilman for District 5 as an independent candidate to make the voice of the people heard, to bring the community together so we can develop our people and grow together, to inspire the next youth to see that anything is possible. Why should you vote for me? As you can see I have been in the community my whole life and am ready to address the certain issues that we face. I am ready to be an advocate.
